Percy Thomas Wilson JACOB was born in Hockwold in 1899 (Thetford Q2-1899 4B:367), son of John William and Mary Elizabeth JACOB (née FLACK).

1901 census... Aged 2, Percy was at 1 White Dyke Cottages, Hockwold with his father John William JACOB [34] a game keeper, born Feltwell; his mother Mary Elizabeth [29] born Hockwold; and sisters Mabel Victoria [6] and Minnie Elizabeth [4]. All the children were born in Hockwold.

1911 census...Aged 12, Percy was still at White Dyke Cottages with his parents and a sister Florence [7] born in Hockwold. There were 5 children of the marriage , Hilda H born in 1901 was with her grandmother Amelia NEWSTEAD at Plumstead Hanworth, Norfolk and recorded as born in Plumstead.

The pension card has his mother still at White Dyke Cottages, but apparently after her death his father moved to 54 Park Road, Upper Sheringham.

Enlisted in Woolwich.
As with all Artillery men, without the Service Record it is almost impossible to ascertain where exactly they fell, being attached to so many units. Their death was more usually the result of a counter barrage and it was commonplace for the whole gun crew to be buried beside each other.
In this case it seems most likely that Sgt. W ALexandra MM, Bombardier William Ransom, Gunners Albert Elliott, Alfred Laing, Edward Prew and Percy Jacob, were, if not manning the same gun, were certainly close to each other when a shell exploded amongst them.

Percy Jacob is buried in St Amand British Cemetery, France grave 5:C:14
